CYCLING

Children in Year 6

May cycle to school unaccompanied providing the following conditions apply:

They must
1. Have undergone the Cycling Proficiency Training.
2. Wear a helmet.
3. Enter the school grounds via Buckingham Road (the Infants' entrance). All cyclists must dismount as soon as they reach the entrance of Buckingham Road junction with Bridgefield Road.
4. Lock their bicycle in the bicycle shed.
5. Leave the school grounds via Buckingham Road (the Infants' entrance). All cyclists may mount their bicycles as soon as they reach the entrance of Buckingham Road junction with Bridgefield Road.

Children accompanied by an adult

May cycle to school providing the following conditions apply:

Parents should

1. Ensure that the bicycles are well maintained
2. Ensure that the bicycles have serviceable lights during dark evenings.
3. Ensure that all riders wear reflective gear.
4. Provide locks for the bicycles
5. Understand that it is imperative that they should ascertain whether their household insurance covers the loss/damage/personal liability of their child's use of the bicycle when it is away from the home address.
