YEAR 2 FIELD STUDY CENTRE VISIT
Year 2 Visit toCanterbury Environmental Study Centre
As part of Year 2's Science work in the Summer Term we had our annual visit to the Canterbury Environmental Study Centre at Broad Oak near Canterbury.
We had a very enjoyable day, which began with a morning of pond dipping and identifying pond mini-beasts, which live in different parts of the pond.
This was followed by an eagerly awaited open-air picnic.
After lunch the children enjoyed taking part in a 'hedgehog trail', which was a chance to explore the habitats of a variety of plant and animal life whilst searching for clues and objects, which the children used to complete a model hedgehog. On the trail we were lucky enough to meet Sebastian and Sarah Swan with their cygnets.
On our return to school we were able to visit the centres' website "www.naturgrid.org" to complete follow-up work in Literacy and ICT as well as science.
